Sagicor SIGMA Corporate Run is one of the biggest examples of people coming together to make a difference. The annual event has become a staple on the national calendar, allowing Jamaicans to “Run for the fun and donate for a cause.” Since 1999, this 5.5K (3.4-mile) run, walk, and wheelchair experience, has raised more than J$878 million to support the improvement of lives across Jamaica. The funds raised are earmarked to support the enrichment of health and educational causes. The Sagicor Sigma Corporate run never departed from the vision set when the first race set off at Breezy Castle in Downtown Kingston. Under the auspices of the Sagicor Foundation, the run continues to embody a spirit of collective efforts making a difference, giving “Straight from the Heart”. This is a legacy which started with our first beneficiary, Jamaica Foundation for Cardiac Disease.

More than 40 beneficiaries later, it is remarkable that the event which first set what was then an ambitious target of raising J$500,000, is now bringing in more than J$100 million per staging. The 279 finishers in 1999 are now dwarfed by the more the 27,000 participants, which makes Sigma Corporate Run the Caribbean’s largest 5K road race.
